How much do solar panels cost in Perth?

6.6kW Solar Panels

The 6.6kW solar panels are perfect for small to medium size houses. These panels come with a Goodwe inverter and 315W Half Cell Solar Panel technology. Half cells split a panel into self-contained circuits, minimising the effects of shading, improving efficiency and power output. On average you can expect these 6.6kW panels to produce approximately 28kWh of electricity per day. Accompanied by a 10 year Workmanship Warranty, the price for 6.6kW solar panels start at $5,250.

10kW Solar Panels

Like its 6.6kW counterpart, the 10kW solar panels come with a Goodwe Inverter as well as the 315W Half Cell Solar Panel technology. Perth residents with medium to large size homes or energy usage will find the 10kW panels most suitable to their needs. With an average energy output of 42kWh per day, these panels will power your home and keep your appliances running with their highly efficient solar energy conversion. The basic 10kW solar panel prices start at $8,490.

What solar panel options are available in Perth?

The options for solar panels in Perth are numerous. Between the different sizes, power capacities, types of technology and manufacturers, the solar panel industry has expanded to cater for individual needs and preferences. Once you have determined the size and capacity of your panels, then it’s time to look at the type of technology and the manufacturer.

Panel Technology

Poly Panels are the cheapest type of panel technology available. For the cheaper price tag you will get a panel that is larger and less efficient than its counterparts. Poly panels are recommended for homes with low energy usage, or with ample roof space to fit multiple panels. Where roof space is not limited, buying multiple Poly Panels can be a cost effective means of installing your home solar system.

Mono Perc Panels are more efficient, powerful and expensive than the Poly Panels. The high power output and efficiency make these panels perfect for homes with high energy usage or limited roof space.

Bi-facial Panels are exactly what they suggest: panels with two faces. The dual sides of the bifacial panels allow them to absorb both the direct sunlight in addition to reflective light. The added faces mean that these panels will take in more sunlight, making them more efficient and powerful than both the Mono and Poly. The downside of the Bi-facials is their high price tag and the fact that they are still uncommon in Australia.

How do you choose the right solar panels for your needs?

At Solar Run, we believe in keeping things simple and clear. That’s why our philosophy for fitting solar panels is very straightforward: the right solar is the solar that fits your home. In line with that, we have an easy-to-follow process for determining the perfect solar panels for your home and family needs. All you have to do is answer these 3 questions:

How big is your roof?

If you have limited roof space, then you are going to have to prioritise efficiency in your panels to ensure you can get enough power for your home with a limited number of panels. If you have plenty of roof space, then you could afford to use panels with less efficiency and have more of them installed. The Poly Panels are perfect for this. While less powerful and efficient than other panels, they are a cost effective solar solution if you have the space to fit multiple panels.

How much energy does your house consume?

Homes with low energy usage can compromise power and efficiency for a cheaper price tag. For homes with high energy usage, you will need to be prioritising high-output panels to ensure you can meet your high energy requirements.

Is your roof obstructed by shade?

Shade can be a very frustrating predicament for anyone investing in solar power. Imagine installing your solar system only to realise that your roof doesn’t get any sun! That is why this is an important question to confront before making your decision. For homes with total shading over the roof, we advise you speak with one of our specialists to determine your best course of action.

For homes with partial shading, there are two great solutions. Half Cell Panel technology is one great option. Rather than the entire panel switching off when there is partial shading – as with standard panels – the half cells split the panel into self-contained circuits, allowing one half to function at full capacity while the other is in shade. These half cell panels are powerful, efficient and durable.

Optimisers are another great option for those struggling with shade. What they do is monitor the activity and efficiency of your panels and adjusts them to keep them working at their optimal level. Optimisers can greatly increase your Return on Investment for your panels.

What is the Return On Investment for residential solar panels in Perth?

Rebates

The government’s Renewable Energy Target (RET) is a policy that aims to “ensure that at least 33,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of Australia’s electricity comes from renewable sources by 2020.” To help Australians make this transition to solar, the government is incentivising renewable energy by providing rebates to discount the cost of solar technology. As we get closer to the end of the RET timeline, these rebates are being scaled down. So the sooner you make the move to solar, the more cost effective it is.

These federal rebates come in the form of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). You are awarded STCs based on the amount of kWh produced by your solar system. The greater the output of your system, the greater the subsidy available to you. These STCs can be sold by your CEC-Accredited installer, with the savings passed along to you in the form of a discount on the up-front cost of your system.

Payback Periods

Your Return On Investment (ROI) should be calculated based on the payback period of your system. The payback period is the amount of time it will take for your solar energy to pay off the initial cost of the system, through feed-in tariffs and reduced energy bills. In Australia, the average payback period is between 2 – 7 years. For Perth this is closer to 2 – 5 years due to the strong year-round sunshine. The average system will last for 25 years, giving you between 18 – 23 years of profit from the returns on your investment.

Feed-in Tariffs

Feed-in tariffs are financial rewards given by energy providers to customers who export electricity from their solar panels back into the grid. The export appears on your electricity bill as a credit. The solar inverter will manage what you export of self consume. If you are exporting lots of solar power, consider the feasibilty of a solar battery storage system.

Reduced Electricity Bills

Cutting down your electricity bill is one of the biggest incentives to choosing solar and one of the greatest returns on your investment. Solar Run customers around the country have been experiencing huge savings through their reduced energy bills. Once you’ve passed your payback period, the savings from your electricity bill will be direct profit for you and your home.

Are solar batteries worth it for Perth residents?

Solar batteries are a fantastic investment, especially for residents of Perth. Perths has average peak sunshine of 5.5 hours per day. Rather than sending your excess energy back to the grid, solar batteries allow you to store these and access them at times of low sunshine or when the grid is down.

Solar batteries reduce your reliance on the grid, giving you clean energy independence and drastically reducing your electricity bills.

A 10kW Solar Battery add-on to your solar panels will cost around $9,990. While this will increase your upfront cost and payback period, over the long run a solar battery can make you massive savings.

What solar hot water options are there in Perth?

Hot water Heat pumps start from $1,800 plus installation. The high capacity tanks for these come in either the 170L or 280L sizes.

Solar Hot Water Tubes start from $3,000 plus installation. This Evacuated Tube system is perfect for keeping your water hot and your bills low. The tank comes with a 200L capacity.

Solar Hot Water starts from $2,652 plus installation. The tanks come as either a 200L or 300L capacity. This system connects to the solar panels on your home to heat your water.

Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
